Her mother works as an agent in real estate while her father works as an engineer. She graduated from the Germantown Friends School in the city of Germantown in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, in 1994. She went to Harvard College, where she obtained a Bachelors in Arts degree. Welker was married John Hughes in Philadelphia, who was known as a marketing director. The couple has two daughters. The couple started an affair in 2014 when they began to date. John was her husband and four years older than she. The relationship was enjoying itself and they decided to keep their friendship going. On March 4, 2017, they were married. They were married at the city of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. At the Hyatt the couple held the wedding of a lifetime.
