She is born to Harvey Welker (a Native American father) and Julie Welker (an African-American mom). The daughter is an indigenous father and mother who is African American. Walker went to Germantown Friends School, which is part of the Germantown Friends School of Philadelphia's Germantown, where she received a diploma in 1994. She then went on to Harvard College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998. Welker is married to John Hughes a well-known marketing director at Merck at Philadelphia and they have two children. In 2014 the couple began to have an affair. John his husband, John's father is a year older than him. They decided to move their relationship to the next stage because things were getting so good.
